Method
Slow-cook the beef
- Place the beef pieces in the slow cooker.
- Add the beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Place 4 tablespoons of sliced butter on top of the beef.
- Cook on LOW for 4–5 hours (or HIGH for 2–3 hours) until the beef is tender and pulls apart easily; the liquid should be bubbling around the edges.
Finish and serve
- Stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter until fully melted and the sauce is glossy; the sauce should look smooth and lightly thickened.
- Serve hot over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice, garnished with fresh parsley.
Notes
For the most tender results, avoid lifting the lid during the first 3 hours on HIGH or the first 4 hours on LOW. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 3 days; reheat gently until warmed through. Freezing is yes—freeze up to 3 months and thaw in the fridge before reheating. Dietary swap: use gluten-free soy sauce and gluten-free Worcestershire sauce if needed.
